SEEDWEAVER FESTIVAL - Saturday 20th Feb 2010
-celebrating our right to plant culture-
Starseed Gardens, Byron Bay
11am til late
Seedweaver is a one day/night cultural gathering and fundraiser in Northern NSW promoting, invigorating and celebrating medicinal plant use and culture. This event aims to: RAISE AWARENESS of the centrality of plants in human culture, CHALLENGE the unethical restrictions placed upon medicinal herb use by pharmaceutical agendas, and CELEBRATE our immutable right to plant culture.
Live & bass heavy music, practical workshops, art, performance, and informative panel discussions will provoke, inspire and activate participants, with a focus on trading legal (but for how long!?!) medicinal herbs in the plant swap temple. Lets stand up and claim our culture!
First round lineup includes:
FYAH WALK
MYSTIC BEATS
OSMOSIS
SEED
DAKINI (Omelette Records)
MURRAY KYLE
HUCKLEBERRY
with more t.b.a
Panel speakers include:
Rak Razam (psychedelic author)
Dan Schreiber: Community catalizer
Ruth Rosenhek (Rainforest Information Centre)
Ray Thorpe (Happy High Herbs)
Robin Rodd (Professor of Anthropology, James Cook Uni)
Market space, art installations and roving performers will add to the vibe and all surplus funds will go towards future plant focused events and community action projects.
Cost is $25 for full day.
